Does the County Council make a charge for supplying information?

The County Council is not allowed to pass on the cost of locating and supplying the information where this cost is less than £450. If the work needed to deal with a request is likely to cost more than this, the Council will normally decline to supply the information.

The Council can charge you for work such as photocopying documents, printing, and postage, and for publications.

If there is a cost, you will be given an estimate of what this will be, and have an opportunity to decide whether or not you want us to proceed.

An alternative to paying for copies or prints is to go and look at the information you want to see in the public search room in the Archive Centre.
