What’s On Calendar
Norfolk County Council’s responsibilities under the Act
We have a duty to help you with your request for information. We generally have to produce the information you request, or explain our reasons if we can’t do this, within 20 working days of receiving a valid request. We have more time in certain circumstances. We will let you know if it will take more than 20 days to deal with your request. If we don’t comply with a request within the set period, you can complain to the County Council.
The Act provides some exemptions from supplying information. If we refuse to supply information that has been requested, we will explain our reasons. If you do not agree with our decision, you have the right to have it reviewed under our own Freedom of Information complaints procedure. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, you can take your complaint to the Information Commissioner.
If you have requested information that the Council holds but which came from a third party, we may have to consult with them, but unless the information falls within an exemption we will have to give it to you.
