Volunteering
Gressenhall’s learning volunteers or Mardlers help to deliver high quality learning sessions to children and young people of all ages and abilities. Learning volunteers are involved in a wide range of activities - everything from being an ‘ugly sister’ helping young children explore the farm and farmhouse in our ‘Once Upon A Time’ event to introducing High School students to the good and bad points of the Victorian workhouse.
No qualifications are necessary but some experience of working with children or young people is essential (you do not necessarily need to be a teacher - just have some previous experience). The most important thing is enthusiasm and a desire to help children learn.
If you are interested in joining the Mardler team, complete the application form below and we will get back to you. Please return to Jan Pitman (Learning Manager), Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, Dereham, NR20 4DR or email to jan.pitman@norfolk.gov.uk.

Attending a Family Learning Numeracy Course is what encouraged me to get a job…It gave me the confidence.
We had a broad spectrum of ability (amongst the pupils) and the visit catered for all of these and gave us a few surprises – i.e. the children who asked and answered questions were not necessarily the ones we expected.
