Collections

The collections of the NMAS are primarily about the county of Norfolk, its history, development, culture and environment. We also have some wonderful foreign collections that are a window on the world.

There are approximately 3 million objects in the collections of the NMAS. Most of them have been catalogued on the databases and we have over 300,000 records in Collections Online for All, covering all subjects and museums. More work remains to be done however. The Costume and Textile collection (about 15,000 items) was recently added but Natural History collection at Norwich Castle (about 2 million specimens) is still being documented electronically.
