We offer a selection of tours and talks designed for groups to find out more about the rich tapestry of history offered by our building and collections.
These informal tours last around 30-40 minutes and cost £2.50 per person.
• In the house of the King – tour of the Castle keep
• Invasion! Vikings in Norwich – talk
• Norwich Castle as a prison – tour
• The Norwich School of painters – gallery tour
• Bears, birds and butterflies – tour of the Natural History galleries
• Temporary exhibition - talk
Every weekday during the school terms we hold a free (with museum admission) talk or tour, there are up to 15 places available every day.
For larger groups and those with a special interest please ring 01603 493636 to discuss a tailor-made tour or session for your group.
Norwich Castle has plenty to interest under 5s, including explorer buckets, trails and dressing up. We also provide baby changing areas, highchairs and children’s menus.
The Learning Department offers a full programme for under 5s groups, including a popular ‘Snapdragons’ bookable session for under 5s and their families.
Visit the learning pages to find out more.
Visitors with disabilities
Visitors with a disability may bring in one companion free and we welcome assistance dogs.
There is a lift available from street level in Castle Gardens (just off Castle Meadow) to the Castle entrance with other lifts fitted throughout the museum.
Most galleries, the shop and the café are wheelchair accessible; unfortunately the keep balcony and tours of the battlements and dungeons are not. A video presentation offers an introduction to parts of the Museum with access restrictions such as the battlements and dungeons.
The Museum has accessible toilets and wheelchairs available for loan. We also have induction loops at the ticket desks and available for talks.

The watercolour gallery is amazing, the colours are so fresh. For someone living in Manchester I did not realise what an extensive collection of pictures you have.
