Group Visits

Groups of 15 or more people can enjoy a daytime visit to the Castle at a discounted admission price. Group visits are offered throughout the year by should be booked as far in advance as possible.

Children (4-16): £4.40

Peak Season (2 July – 30 September 2012)
Mon - Sat: 10am - 5pm, Sun: 1 - 5pm

Low Season
Mon - Sat: 10am - 4.30pm, Sun: 1pm 4.30pm

Catering for your Group

The Castle has a café offering a selection of teas, coffees, cakes, pastries, filled rolls, baguettes and light lunches. Morning coffee, lunch and cream teas in the afternoon can be arranged for groups wishing to take refreshments together in the café (minimum order 15 people).

A selection of menus is available on request. Alternatively, members of your party can visit our café in their own time, choose their own meal and pay separately.

Groups wishing to bring their own packed lunch can use the picnic room if available.

Events and Activities

The Castle offers a variety of events linked to the exhibition programme. These may include illustrated talks, guided tours, object handling and demonstrations. Don’t forget to ask any special events happening of the day of your visit when you talk to our Visitor Services Team.

A team of interpreters will be on hand to answer your questions about the Castle, its collections and special exhibitions. You can also join the interpreters on guided tours of the battlements and dungeons (there is an extra charge for these tours).

Young People

Norwich Castle has plenty to interest young people especially in the basement of the keep where there are games and interactive displays. Other facilities include baby changing areas, highchairs and children’s menus.

The Education Department can offer a range of additional activities to organised school groups e.g. object handling, worksheets and resources.

Visitors with Disabilities

May bring one companion in free. There is a lift from street level in the Castle Gardens (just off Castle Meadow) to the Castle entrance and there are lifts throughout the building. All public galleries, the shop and the café are wheelchair accessible. There are accessible toilets, induction loops and wheelchairs available for loan. A video presentation offers an audio-visual introduction to the Castle, battlements and dungeons. Assistance dogs are welcome.

Travel and Parking

Norwich Castle is in the heart of the city centre adjacent to the main bus stops in Castle Meadow. There is no parking on Castle Mound.

A drop off point for coaches is situated on Castle Meadow approximately 200 metres from the Castle entrance. Coach drivers and accompanying couriers receive complimentary admission to the Castle.

The nearest paying car park is at Castle Mall shopping centre. Park on higher levels K-N for the shortest route to Norwich Castle. It is possible to drop off visitors with disabilities outside the Castle entrance and there are a few parking spaces for badge holders.
