The Egyptians – Religion
Religion was part of everything the Egyptians did. They believed that earth and the heavens were two vital and balanced halves of the universe. The orderly and balanced rule of the goddess Maat reflected this balance and it had to be maintained by everyone. This was done by keeping the law, worshipping the gods and performing the religious ceremonies that the Egyptians believed necessary to keep the universe working smoothly. Each person had a role to perform, and if they performed it well the balanced state of Maat would be maintained.
