The Young Heritage Collective
The Young Heritage Collective is for young people aged 12 - 18. They meet at libraries in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Thetford and Kings Lynn. It brings young people together to learn about and discuss Norfolk's history. The Young Heritage Collectives research lesser-known aspects of local history. For example, women's history, particularly the Women's Liberation Movement of the 1970s - 1980s.
The established Norwich group have:
- Researched the women of Norfolk's medieval Paston family
- Made blue plaques with the Rosie's Plaques project
- Created zines about news reporting and the women artists of the Norwich School of Painters
- Marched in Pride in London
- Run zine-making and collage workshops
- Learnt about Victorian photography
All the Young Heritage Collectives will be supporting the British Library's Living Knowledge Network's "Fantasy: Realms of Imagination" exhibition. Exploring the development of the genre from its roots in folklore, and seeing their work displayed alongside other pieces and will run from October 2023 to February 2024.
