Gressenhall Farm & Workhouse is partnering with local writer Daisy Henwood as she looks for new ways to interact with and talk about Norfolk Museums Service collections. This workshop is free and open to families in the SENsational Families community. Ticket holders can join Daisy to explore stories about museum experiences, share their favourite objects, and even write their own poem to take home. These workshops are part of FOUND, a poetry and visual art project for 2024 exploring how we interact with museum collections, and telling the stories of hidden or unloved objects.

Join artist Connie Flynn for a workshop inspired by 2024 exhibition 'Making the Rounds: stories of workhouse nurses told in textiles.' Attendees will be welcomed to view and reflect on the exhibition itself with the artist, followed by a relaxed stitch-based workshop. Using recycled fabrics like repurposed unused bandages (and any additional textiles that attendees wish to bring with them), Connie Flynn will guide all to create their own decorative fabric book to take home. Techniques will include hand stitching, embroidery, applique, patchwork and darning. The work can be complete in itself, or be continued at home after the workshop, depending on attendees' own speed of working and preferred level of detail. Attendees are welcome to stay on site after the workshop finishes until the site itself closes at 5pm.

Head down to Union Farm to meet Mrs Beech and learn more about the 1930s Farmhouse. She might need some help with chores, or simply to have a natter whilst getting on with the jobs of the day - we know she'll be pleased to see you! Mrs Beech's to-do list changes from month to month with the seasons, so there will always be something new cooking on the stove, being stirred up, or needing to be made, moved or mended. Please check back throughout the year for any updates on upcoming sessions; dates are subject to volunteer availability: 9 June (Open Farm Sunday) 14 July 4 August 25 August (Girlguiding 1940s Camp) 22 September (Horse Power!
