On Tuesdays during the school holidays, drop in between 10am-1pm for a mix of history, crafts and science for families to enjoy. You might meet costumed characters, handle historic objects or find craft activities to do.
Toys and Games - 13 August
Find out how children from yesteryear amused themselves through the toys and games of various eras. Experience the joy of making your own toy, and enjoy playing games from the past with costumed characters. Handle real toys from the past.
Victorians - 20 August
Discover how people lived in Thetford during Victorian times. Meet costumed characters, handle real Victorian objects and make some Victorian objects to take home.
Second World War - 22 October
War has broken out at Ancient House. Come along to the museum and learn how people coped with life during WWII. Discover how we “make do and mend”, find out if you could live on a ration and handle real WWII objects.
Special event days
The Ancient House celebrates local and national events by delving deeper into a specific theme or part of our cultural heritage. Activities are free with museum admission, unless otherwise stated.
