Ancient House Junior History Club invites you to learn about the connections between the Moomins and Refugee Week and find out about all the different people who have made Thetford their home over the centuries. Join with others across the county to take on the "Moomins Turn 80 - Simple Acts Challenge" as part of Refugee Week. Refugee Week is the world's largest arts & culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.

Join us to knit, natter and enjoy a hot drink and biscuit.

Ancient House of Thetford Life is working with Historic Royal Palaces to offer young people aged 11 to 18 years old, a day workshop exploring the life and legacy of Princess Sophia Duleep Singh. The workshop will be of interested to those studying history, drama, theatre studies, religious education, and politics. The day will take place in Thetford and consists of three elements: • Watching a performance of Fire! Princess' response to burning issues Play from Scary Little Girls Theatre Company commissioned by Historic Royal Palaces What does the daughter of the last Maharajah of the Punjab have in common with young people today? Bringing the life of Princess Sophia Duleep Singh alive in our interactive show. Meet characters from Sophia's life, from exiled royal family to passionate suffragettes. Join Melissa Hawker (Learning Officer) for an exploration of the surprising and often ancient origins of our well-known nursery rhymes.

Melissa Hawker, Learning Officer at Ancient House, will explore the role of Princess Sophia and Princess Catherine Duleep Singh in the campaign for Votes for Women. Melissa will set them in the context of local revolutionaries and other local campaigners, including Thetford's very own Thomas Paine.

Step back in time at Ancient House to find out about Maharajah Duleep Singh and his family. Explore the brand-new displays including miniature models of rooms at Elveden Hall where the Maharajah lived, meeting costumed characters, handling real historic artefacts and enjoy a drink.
