Description

Lowestoft porcelain teapot and cover; lozenge-shaped with straight sides moulded with irregular vertical ribs, straight tapering spout with two central horizontal ribs, angled scroll handle with thumb-rest, flat circular cover moulded with radial ribs and pointed knob moulded with six vertical ribs; seven straining holes inside spout; painted in black enamel and gilt with scattered flower and leaf sprigs in black gold to body, flowering leafy stem to underside of spout, formal motifs to handle and knob and line border to shoulder, foot, handle, tip of spout, rim and cover; made about 1795-1800
