Free Talk : The History of the Gas Industry in Great Yarmouth
Find about the fascinating history of the gas industry in Great Yarmouth, including the Grade II Listed gasholder currently being refurbished The talk will be delivered by industry expert Professor Russell Thomas and all attendees will receive a free printed copy of his booklet "A history of the gas industry in Great Yarmouth.Russell Thomas has a keen interest in the gas industry. He has been working on former gasworks sites since 1997, a subject he has grown to find fascinating. Russell works as a Technical Director for the International Engineering Consultancy, WSP, advising on former industrial sites, with a special focus on former gasworks.He also manages research projects on behalf of clients and is a visiting lecturer at the University of Manchester and a visiting professor at the University of Strathclyde.Russell is a Member of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers and the Chair of their History Panel.

Exhibition Talk: Ploughed Furrows, Variety Packed
Looking closely at works from contrasting periods and series of Colin Self's output, Nicholas Hatfull will discuss the relationship between the artist's preoccupation with packaging and his observation of the natural world. Drawing comparisons to artists in Self's orbit and beyond, Hatfull will explore Self's engagement with both graphic emblems and lived experience of landscape. Nicholas Hatfull is an artist, and has written about painting for numerous monographs and periodicals including Frieze, Mousse and Apollo. Recent solo exhibitions of his paintings include Josh Lilley, 2024 and Dracula's Revenge, 2023. He lectures in Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts. The talk will last 40-45 minutes with a 10 minute Q&A to follow.

Once a month*, under 5s and their families are invited to explore Lynn Museum with a variety of activities, trails, songs, games and stories. These sessions have a different theme each month, and are specially designed for early years learning, allowing young children the chance to explore the museum in their own way. 50p per child, accompanying adults free. Booking is recommended as places are limited. Fossil Collectors NHLF Project Day
