If you have little ones under 5, the second Saturday of every month is the perfect day to explore, play and giggle together at Norwich Castle. With activities and ideas especially designed for our younger visitors, there will always be lots to look at, listen to, hold and investigate! All activities are included with admission, please make sure you book for the correct date.

Join Lynn Museum's Pewter Pilgrims workshop for adults! Spend the morning learning about the many pilgrimage souvenirs dropped into the River Great Ouse during the Medieval period and have a go at creating and casting your own pewter souvenirs. Then in the afternoon, go on a Pilgrimage Walking Tour around King's Lynn with a Town Guide. Workshop includes museum admission. Booking is required as seating is limited. THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT. Both flax and Norfolk Horn fleece have played an important role in Norfolk's textile past. Come and explore what these sustainable fibres mean to us in the present! Volunteers will be meeting once per month from March - October 2025 on site at Gressenhall to demonstrate the heritage skills involved in linen and wool production, talking to our visitors about the practical activities they are showcasing - from planting and processing to scutching and spinning! Activities will vary per month and are subject to volunteer availability.

Join Hayley Simmons (Museum Learning Assistant) as she explores the colourful world of fashion and beauty in the Ancient Roman Empire. Where the status of the Roman citizen was paramount and hygiene a necessity. Find out what influenced Roman clothing, by looking at their own words and art, and how they, in turn, influenced the fashions of societies to come through artefacts re-discovered over time.

Once a month*, under 5s and their families are invited to explore Lynn Museum with a variety of activities, trails, songs, games and stories. These sessions have a different theme each month, and are specially designed for early years learning, allowing young children the chance to explore the museum in their own way. 50p per child, accompanying adults free. Booking is recommended as places are limited. Lynn Museum - King's Lynn
Join author, Emma Rose Barber to find out more about these curious, quirky and colourful little images (marginalia) in the margins of parchment pages in Psalters, made in East Anglia in the early fourteenth century. They are mixed in with images of wayfarers - those who were often disabled, hungry and poor, those who travelled around by foot hoping to rely on the kindness of strangers to survive. The reasons for the portrayal of these figures is a mystery, but we can have fun guessing.. were they there to ward off evil spirits, to provide protection, or, as part of a shared kinship with the wider animal Kingdom? And were the wayfarers included to remind the owners of these luxuriously illustrated books of their Christian consciences? We will also learn about the de Warenne family - who had priories and castles in places such as Thetford who may have commissioned the manuscripts. This one day workshop will introduce you to using bark to create small, sustainable and functional containers. You will learn how to harvest and prepare bark as a weaving material, as well as identifying other plants that provide useful materials for producing cordage and weavers to add colour and detail to your container. How did medieval people dress? How did they fight? How did they think? On Friday 30 May, join us at Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery for an activity day exploring medieval life hosted by our very own Knights of the Sound Table group.
