Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse is a unique venue for your marriage or civil partnership ceremony and reception.
Gressenhall has a fascinating history. With its Georgian symmetry and distinctive red brick façade, the main building was constructed in 1776 as a House of Industry to tend to the poor of the local parishes under one roof. As a Victorian workhouse and then home for the elderly, Gressenhall has evolved over the centuries. Since 1976, it has been the Museum of Norfolk Life.

Ceremonies are held in our atmospheric Old Chapel, with its decorative brick patterning, high leaded windows and wooden pews. The chapel can accommodate up to 100 guests.
For more intimate ceremonies, our elegant Boardroom offers a grand location on a smaller scale. Set within the main museum building, the Boardroom can accommodate up to 40 guests. Due to the requirements of our museum collections, only artificial flowers are allowed in the Boardroom.
After your ceremony your guests can enjoy the museum’s extensive grounds, spread over 50 acres of Norfolk countryside, while the historic buildings, gardens and natural landscape provide beautiful and memorable surroundings for your wedding photographs.
Located within the main courtyard, our 70 by 30 foot frame marquee can accommodate up to 200 guests for your reception. The marquee is dressed for your special event, with a plain dark green carpet and white linings which provide a blank canvas for you to personalise with your own creative ideas. High quality bathroom facilities are also provided for the exclusive use by your guests.
Hire our marquee for an afternoon reception, or a party which extends into the evening, with our range of catering options.
For larger wedding parties, speak to our wedding team about hiring our 60 by 40 foot traditional pole marquee to complement this space.
