I’m in the Workhouse: get me out of here!

Schools Out at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse

Have you got what it takes to escape the workhouse? Find out this February half term at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse as it reopens from Monday 18 to Friday 22 February.

Take part in drop in activities and see if you can make it back out into the big wide world! Hunt for the keys and tools you need to get out and learn the skills you need to survive beyond the workhouse walls. Send secret messages and create your very own disguise to sneak past the Workhouse Master!

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday your admission ticket will also give you the chance to explore the Norfolk Collections Centre to see some of the objects not currently on display: from a toffee guillotine to the West Runton Mammoth’s skull. Here you can try your hand at the “Escape Tool Lottery”. See if you can pick the right objects to help you escape the workhouse.

Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse will reopen for the main 2019 season on Sunday 10 March with a new special exhibition exploring favourite children’s books. ‘Once Upon a Time’ will include a magical reading forest where families will be able to relax and enjoy books together. This February half term, the museum needs your help to create the leaves for the forest canopy. Come and add your creation to the trees!
