Thomas Baines: Art, Exploration and Empire

Thomas Baines was a 19th century artist and explorer. He was born in King’s Lynn and travelled to Africa and Australia. He is best known for his depictions of the plants, animals and indigenous communities that he encountered during his travels.

This biographical exhibition, 200 years after his birth, looks at Thomas Baines’ life and the times in which he lived.
