Discovery Thursdays

On Thursdays during the school holidays, drop in between 10am and 1pm for a mix of history, crafts and science for families to enjoy.  You might meet costumed characters, handle historic objects or find craft activities to do.  Activities are free with museum admission.

  • Thursday 31 May - 1950's Family Event Day

Take a trip back to the 1950s with our half-term family event.
Meet characters from the past, handle real 1950s objects, learn all about post-war rationing, and even make a craft to take home with you. No need to book, just drop in between 10am-1pm.

  • Thursday 2 August - Victorian Family Event Day

School might be out for the summer, but why not join us to experience what it would have been like to be taught in a Victorian school room - get your copy books & slates at the ready!
There will be a host of Victorian style games to take part in, and of course handle some Victorian objects from our collection.

  • Thursday 9 August - Archaeology Family Event Day

Join the team at Lynn Museum as they dig a little deeper to find out about our past. Our Archaeology family event will be filled with fun activities for all who are interested in what might be buried beneath our feet.

  • Thursday 16 August - Roman Family Event Day

Looking for something that the whole family can enjoy? Why not come along to our Romans Family Event. Meet costumed characters, handle real ancient artefacts, learn all about Roman food, and even make some fun crafts to take home with you.

  • Thursday 23 August - Maritime Family Event Day

Uncover the secrets of whaling ships which embarked on journeys around the world, from right here in King's Lynn.

  • Thursday 30 August - Prehistory Family Event Day

Learn more about the Bronze Age people who constructed the mysterious Seahenge at our family event day.

Special event days

The Lynn Museum celebrates local and national events by delving deeper into a specific theme or part of our cultural heritage. Activities are free with museum admission, unless otherwise stated.

  • 40's Lynn- Sunday 22 July 10am-4pm

Join us for King's Lynn's annual 1940's event. Enjoy free admission to the museum as well as a range of activities.

  • Norfolk Day - Friday 27 July 10am-12.30pm

Celebrate the first ever Norfolk Day with us as we honour King's Lynn's Frederick Savage and his fantastic fairground.
