Keeping it regal

From 13 May - 30 June 2022 we celebrated 900 years of Norwich Castle in a city-wide trail. This engaging and vibrant trail was part of Norfolk and Norwich Festival programme. It told the story of our castle’s 900 year history as part a wider celebration of the Norwich Castle’s royal heritage.

As part of the project, we’ve been exploring what ‘being regal’ means to us today.

We wondered what behaviours and qualities are, in fact, regal.

We invited a range of people to tell us what being regal means to them. They responded in an array of creative forms, including drama, creative writing and dance that have been captured on film.

These can be seen as part of the Keeping it Regal trail QR codes - use your phone to view!

We are delighted to be working with the following partners:

The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Norwich BID, The British Museum, The Garage, Norfolk and Norwich Festival, UEA, SCVA, Norwich Cathedral, Cinema City, Jarrold, Norfolk County Council’s Adult Education, Museum of Norwich, Strangers’ Hall, The Churches Conservation Trust, Norfolk Record Office, Notre Dame High School and Browick Road Primary and Nursery School.
