The Rotunda

The Rotunda is the hub of the museum, leading to the special exhibition and permanent galleries, and housing our visitor facilities

This versatile space is included in all evening venue hire packages, but can also be hired on its own.

The Rotunda is an ideal space for small events, or as an addition to hiring the Town Close Auditorium

Available for evening events Monday-Saturday.  

Maximum capacity: 250 guests 
Buffet reception: 200 guests 
Seated dinner: 150 guests  

What’s included? 

All evening venue hire includes the use of the Rotunda area, plus the support of our venue hire coordinator, front of house and operations staff, cleaners and porters.We provide a cloakroom (not staffed), audio visual and public address equipment.

Evening hire charges

Monday-Saturday 

  • Early evening 6-8pm £700 
  • Full evening 6-10pm £1,100 
  • Per additional hour (full evening only until 12 midnight) £175 

Add additional room 

  • The Town Close Auditorium £200 
  • Exhibition Gallery £200 

Venue hire charge applies to venue hire events using our own or approved caterers. We will consider requests to use external caterers who meet our operational requirements and high standards for an additional charge.

Additional services 

Specialist equipment and furniture, dedicated A/V support, tour guides, museum experts and costumed characters can be arranged at an additional charge. Approved contractors are available to provide additional supplies and services for more complex events. Entertainment and music should be organised by the client in liaison with our venue hire coordinator.
